Re: Dev stream - Certain moves breaking floorhug#938

K

During the dev stream, Dan and Menace were talking about how they were considering making certain moves break floorhug above certain %s instead of being floorhuggable forever.

I wanted to add a +1 to that idea. As Dan mentioned, I’m also sometimes surprised at how long I can floorhug a certain move and I think it would open the game up a bit more at higher % if certain moves were more “guaranteed” instead of gambling on whether or not your opponent was ready to floorhug at that specific moment.

Disclaimer: just a lowly diamond player and balance should def take priority over this idea. I didn’t mention any specific move because the devs know better than I do about what would and wouldn’t work.

Although I will say, strings like Melee Fox’s jab into up smash look really cool to me lol.

this is about how i feel about floorhug as a whole - it’s not a bad concept (and is VERY important for letting some moves work how they do without completely taking over the game), but it’s able to do a bit more than it should

It’s a consequence of the lack of scaling on a bunch of moves (which is also why you can live to 200+% as the lightest character in the game if your opponent can’t land one of the designated kill moves). I’m glad the devs have acknowledged this though, I’ve felt like I’ve been screaming into the void about the knockback scaling + floorhug thing for ages now.

@Miscellaneous Shaun you say that is if literally every platform fighter doesnt have “designated kill moves” for most of the cast
