Now that absa fsmash that vacuums into the final hits, its making edgeguards with her not very interesting to use and play against. It happens with other characters, but zetterburn especially has a hard time with it since he relies on wall techs for his upspecial. Since the fmsash reaches so far down Zett has to hit a perfect angle to not get scooped, whereas absa just has to charge fsmash with very lenient timing. It leads to rinse and repeat edgeguards like its rivals 1 again.
I propose a middleground solution where Absa fsmash is reverted, but there is an added hitbox, a smaller circle, that functions like the new fsmash with Priority over the bigger hitbox. That way characters like zetter still have the chance to walltech if youre just barely touching the edge of the move, but you still get the consistency on-stage where the move previously was inconsistent.
Im open to anything really, Absa Fsmash is just not very fun to play against in its current form.

My main issue with it in its current form is that you cant walltech. I have a video here, but this happened at least 30 times in the multiple sets I played with this absa. I just had to pray I could hit the god angle or they would mess up.

I defintely agree. Her strongs needed a touch up to their constistency, but it went too far in that direction. The moves are essentially hitgrabs now but without the draw back of losing to hitboxes that real hitgrabs have. Absa’s f/up strongs now have the same problems that I have with Zetter’s fire strongs. They completely disallow floorhugging, amsah teching etc.
Up strong is less of a problem in this regard (due to high verical knockback already negating these techniques at comparatively lower percents + the position of the hitbox creates less problematic scenarios), but still a problem imo.

tyring to be objective and unbiased….. zetter at least has to inflict you with burn before he can scoop you. His hitboxes arent as static, so theyre at least easier to play around. Absa fsmash is fairly active in the same spot for an extended period, which makes this waaay easier like you mentioned. This has the side-effect of making this stategy particularly effective at ledge
This was already addressed. It is just like other smash attacks where if the smash attack is done when a character has slipped past the wall, then they cant tech it. That is a reward for timing it correctly on absa behalf and punishment on behalf of the miss-spaced recover-er
@Clacky47alex this post was made before the patch. We got what I asked for 👍
