Ive heard people complain about this before, but I thought it wasnt possible for the elo difference to be quite this large. I had a match last night where it was nearly a 300 Elo difference.

I had at least 4 matches last night where matches were above the 200 point threshold. these two were the worst of them

I think this is just the consequence of having ranks be so broad in terms of elo. Generally speaking a low 1100’s plat has no chance against a high 1400’s diamond, but it can happen because of the one rank distance. And it’s equally frustrating for both players because for the former, they have no chance, and for the latter, they get next to nothing out of winning. I’m equally unhappy getting matched against a low plat player and a master player, but that’s what I get half the time I queue ranked.

Update… I had 2 matches last night that were 300+ differences

You cannot match with someone greater than 1 rank above or below you, but you can match with anyone in that range. So the max range is 599. If you are in diamond that would be 1100-1699. You can match all the way from the lowest plat up to the highest master.
The exception to this rule is master (1500) where you can match with ANYONE 1300+, since diamond (1300) is one rank below you and gm (1700+) is one rank above you with gm being technically infinite.
Someone can correct my exact numbers if those are wrong but this is the basic gist of it lol
