In the clip Maypul goes to the tether, gets hit, but still keeps the mark. This seems like a very extreme case and in this specific clip Maypul is even able to stop her momentum and slightly shift upwards (the start of the tether travel) before she gets “cancelled”.
I’m aware this isn’t the only move that has this effect. Forsburn when he presses side B the instant before he gets hit will not put his clone on cooldown. The opposite is also true in this game, when Forsburn combusts the instant before he gets hit he loses his smoke stacks. I believe Loxodont has a similar situation with magma stacks getting burned when he down bs.
Are these intended and what is the exact threshold that makes sense in this game? The Maypul example looks quite egregious to me comparatively speaking because of the fact that she actually managed to move meaning she actually did technically use her tether.

@zhaiosdnoasndk When Maypul is hit during the Tether Startup window, the mark is not removed. The mark is only removed when Maypul reaches the Tether Travel window. In your clip, you appear to have hit the Maypul on the very last frame of Tether Startup. I can tell because when you hit Maypul the vine was still visible during the first frame of hitpause.
Image 1: your clip, on the first frame of hitpause.
Image 2: hitting Maypul on that same frame in frame advance; note the mark is still there and the vine is visible on this frame of hitpause
Image 3: hitting Maypul 1 frame later in frame advance; note the mark is gone and the vine is not visible
Whether or not this should be how it works is a question I’ll ask Trevor, but for now this is working as intended.

I didn’t realize the mark goes away only on the full travel but that makes sense. I guess I could see the reasoning behind why the mark should or shouldn’t immediately be consumed (always down for a Maypul nerf). Thanks for the response.
