Let’s get orcane back to being sick#1043

I’ve been grinding rivals with a few different characters since launch and and I have one orcane main in my group and I gotta say this used to be my one of my favorite match ups in the game. Wed play orcane vs whoever I was playing for entire sessions and I’d never get bored but with each change orcane gets it seems like he’s more and more encouraged to camp. Orcanes I’m playing with are trying hard to keep the movement and all the other sick stuff the character can do alive but it’s just so much better for orcane to lean into campier options it feels like with each patch. I get and agree that orcane needed compensation buffs for the nerfs he got like 8 months ago. But I think the buffs, especially the massive buffs to bubbles have taken the character in such a less rad direction.

Wanna be clear, I’m not making a balance change complaint or anything here. I don’t really know balance and I’m not good enough to say what “should” be changed. I’m just a guy who longs for the days when my friends were doing awesome shit to me with this character because that was optimal as opposed to the direction orcane current design feels like it’s gone.

I don’t think I’m entirely alone in that feeling either. The orcanes im playing with say the character feels both less consistent than earlier interactions before movement all the movement nerfs and less exciting to play because of the limitations.

I guess all in all what I’m saying here is I’d love to see a future orcane rework where we can bring back some of the stuff that made him so exciting early on on in rivals 2s life while also keeping some of this newer playstyle the developers are moving him towards.

Should have clarified that I do play with more than this one orcane. They are just my main partner so I emphasized how much I enjoyed them. But we have a few in our regular rotation

I think it’s clear the devs want you to play Orcane as a circle camping bubble spammer. That’s the direction the character has been taken at least, so if that’s not the case, I don’t know what they’re doing with him.

You are not alone whatsoever. Pretty much all the Orcanes are unhappy. We don’t want to have to play bubble spam but it’s incentivized so much more than everything else when a small stubby character with nearly no disjoints ALSO becomes slow. Radio silence from the devs.

We can only hope that they’re listening because it would be really hard to miss with this much pushback, still, almost a whole year later iirc. But either they’re ignoring the issue or they’re silently cooking an attempt to fix it…
