Player tag should be remembered between sessions#1042

Between many of my sessions, my player tag is remembered, but seemingly arbitrarily, sometimes, it gets unselected. I queue up for a ranked match with limited time, and get into game only to find out that I’m back on default controls. I am the only one that ever plays on my machine, and I would like to stop losing ranked matches due to having my controls reset in 20% of game 1s.

it has never happened to me. Did you make sure to set your default tag in your profile on the top right?

Just checked; yep! It is set in my profile. And is the only player tag that I have registered in my game. This happened a lot more to me previously; I thought it had been fixed in the “big controller patch” recently, but happened to me again today.

I’ve totally seen this too - either it’ll set the tag to default or just reset the controls entirely. Either way absolutely throws a game 1

Do you use steam input? Sometimes it messes up how your controller is seen and can make the game believe you are using another controller type.
