well, i agree. i think being able to wall tech everything at every percent is horribly bad design because as OP said its not fair as in risk vs reward is not right.

In reality it would be cool if teaching the wall made you slide down some, like in movies when they stab a knife in the wall to slow down and stop their descent. Or like combo devils plat cling. That way you don’t get immediately reversled. But I don’t thinking teching an attack is unfair as a whole

ehhhhhh I think it’s okay as-is

first of all, you let them get to the wall to begin with, you gave them an important recovery resource by not intercepting them earlier, that’s on you

second, the wall’s for you as well! it lets you use that spike and still live! that lowers the risk a lot, so there being a lot less reward seems valid

and finally, you can still mix em, just hit em outwards and they won’t have correct survival DI if they were planning to tech the spike

i just think being able to tech anything combined with the buffer is a bad idea, since the tech timing is so easy and takes no skill at all. also people can tech moves that send away from the wall in a right angle which makes no sense at all to me.
and here they are being hit super low with a really hard hitting spike at 140%. It should be super hard to tech that needing almost frame perfect timing, given how big the disadvantage state is and how hard the oly commited.
its just another example where risk vs reward is not right and how in reality the game always has a right option and so many “wrong” options. thats why the game has so litte creativity and is so flowcharty. especially since there is no mixing up, you can change DI and tech this on reaction since the spike is super telegraphed.
i think there should be a no tech window that grows with increasing percents.
